The Syracuse District
Golf Association (SDGA) held the Associations' annual 2008 closing
awards dinner, in conjunction with the SDGA INTERCLUB CHAMPIONSHIP, at
Bellevue Country Club, on Friday Evening, September 26, 2008. Three local golfers were honored for their 2008
playing achievements,
and 2 more were honored for their service to the game.
SDGA 2008 Junior Chairpersons', Gene and Ginny Meyle, presented both the 2008 JUNIOR PLAYER and the 2008 BOYS PLAYER
OF THE YEAR awards, which awards were based on season long competitions, in those two divisions.
Mr. Meyle presented ERIK DAVIS, 14, from Fayetteville, NY (Drumlins CC) with the trophy recognizing Jeff
as the 2008 SDGA BOYS PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
Mrs. Meyle presented to TYLER DATTMORE 17, from East Syracuse NY, (Kanon
Valley CC) the trophy recognizing him as the 2008 SDGA JUNIOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
Longtime SDGA officials Don Scanlon and Brother John Lohr were
honored as the 2008 Golfers of the Year. This award is awarded
annually for exceptional meritorious service, given, by an individual,
for the good of the game of golf.
Finally the
SDGA 2008 MENS PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD was awarded to ZACH VINAL, from Syracuse, NY (Bellevue CC), in culmination of a season long annual men's competition series.
The award was accepted by his father, Charlie.
