2018 SDGA Annual Awards Dinner

The SDGA held their Annual Awards Dinner on September 28th to honor the 2018 award recipients.

Sub Junior Player of the Year (14 and under) - Anthony Maglisco played in all 4 rounds of the Apogee Investment Management Championship, played in all 3 rounds of the SDGA Gerry Ashe Memorial, won the SDGA Sub Junior Classic, won the NYSGA Sub Junior Championship, won two matches of the SDGA Men's District Championship and a Member of the Williamson Cup Team.

Junior Player of the Year - Shawn Colella played in all 4 rounds of the Apogee Investment Management Championship, finished T10 in the SDGA Gerry Ashe Memorial, won the SDGA Jr. District Match Play, member of the 9 player Section III team competing at the New York State High School Championships, and was a member of the Williamson Cup team opening the tournament with a 1-under par 71.

Men's Player of the Year- Kevin VandenBerg won SDGA District Best Ball with partner Brad Monroe, finished 2nd at the NYSGA 4-Ball Championship with partner Connor Salanger, finsihed 2nd in the Appogee Investment Management Championship, finished 5th in the SDGA Gerry Ashe Memorial, qualified for SDGA District Match Play and won one match, finished T22 in the NYSGA Mid-Am Championship.

Senior Player of the Year- Todd Dischinger finished 2nd with partner Mike Wolf in the SDGA Best Ball Championship, finished T3 in SDGA Senior Stroke Play Championship, finished 12th in SDGA Gerry Ashe Memorial, Medalist and back to back champion in the SDGA Senior Match Play Championship, finsihed 5th in the Apogee Investment Management Senior Championship.

Super Senior Player of the Year- Randy Young finished 5th in SDGA Senior Match Play qualifying and went on to win two matches, finished 3rd overall in the Apogee Investment Management Senior Championship and won the Super Senior Division, won SDGA Super Senior Best Ball Championship with partner Larry Duchaney.

Golfer of the Year- Karl Schnitzler for his longtime and outstanding work as Treasurer on the Syracuse District Golf Association's Board.
