Eric Hofsommer Captures Ashe

The 2016 SDGA Gerry Ashe, hosted by Seven Oaks Golf Course, concluded Sunday with Tecumseh's Eric Hofsommer claiming the championship's title with a three-day total of 4-over par (220).

Hofsommer began Sunday's final round 1-stroke behind second round leader John Petrin (Lake Shore Yacht & CC). After an opening 1-over on the front nine, he held a 4-stroke lead over Petrin, Tyler McArdell (Timber Banks), and 2015 winner John Clare (Bellevue CC). Hofsommer played great with this large lead, posting an even par 36 on the final nine holes. Clare made a final push with a birdie on the short par-4 17th and then an eagle on the 537 yard par-5 18th, but came up 2-shots short of Homsommer at 222, 6-over par. Colgate University's Seven Oaks 6,900 yard Robert Trent Jones, Sr. layout played firm and fast this year, providing a tremendous test. The SDGA would thanks the club's staff and membership for hosting this year's championship! To learn more about Seven Oaks visit their website at www.sevenoaksgolf.com.
