The win marked two straight for the CNY PGA. Prior to 2025 the SDGA had won three of the last four contests. For Eric Manning, it was his second consecutive year he claimed all five points. He played with Jeff Reader in 2025. The duo of Nick Serafino & Alan Savage were also paired up last year. They improved their previous record of 3.5-1.5 by going undefeated.

The Sovik Cup is in honor of Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Famer Larry Sovik, who won six Syracuse District Amateur Championships in his career.
