Lakeshore Wins First Interclub Title Since 2021

Event host Lakeshore Yacht & Country Club claims the 2026 SDGA Interclub Event. The squad, Zach Abulencia, Jesse Farabee, Brendan George, and Joel Lafortune, won by a single stroke.

At their home course, Abulencia and George birdied the first hole, a short par-4, while Farabee took advantage of the third, a par-5. The other front-nine par-5, hole 6, was birdied by George who was two-over through nine. Abulencia and Farabee both birdied the 10th hole and Abulencia added another on 15. George slightly faltered down the stretch but crucially birdied 16 and 17. 

Abulencia shot 73, one-over, Farabee shot 74, while George finished with 76. Lafortune’s round of 78 didn’t count in the team’s score. The Lakeshore cohort finished at seven-over. 

Adam Butch, part of the Cavalry Club team, found six birdies in his round as he finished at two-under, 70. His teammates: Michael Deblois, Jon Romano, and Andrew Heyman managed rounds of 76, 78, and 78, respectively. A bogey on 17 by Romano proved costly as the Calvary Club contingent finished at eight-over, and in second place. 

Beaver Meadows Golf Club put up a nice showing as they finished in third. The team was birdie-less through the front-nine, but did well to limit the damage. Ryan Fecco eagled the par-4 11th hole which helped spring some momentum. Beaver Meadows contributed a round of 74 and two rounds of 76 to finish at ten-over. 

Tuscarora Golf Club took home fourth place. Their squad recorded three birdies on par 3s while turning in scores of 75, 77, and 77. Tuscarora, recently after winning the Senior Interclub, finished at 13-over.

The team from Five Iron Golf rounded out the top five. Brian Evans had their best as he birdied all but one of the par 5s for a round of 72, even-par. The team shot 16-over.
