CNYPGA Captures 50th Mitchell Cup


The 50th SDGA Mitchell Cup Team

FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. -- The CNYPGA professionals defeated the SDGA amateurs by a score of 30 to 18 to take back the Mitchell Cup after the SDGA was victorious in 2022.


In the Modified Alternate Shot morning round, the CNYPGA won 9-3, and remained on top the rest of the day, as the professionals won 21-15 in the Four-Ball event.


The SDGA team consisted of Steve Arlukiewicz (Beaver Meadows GC), Chris Quilty (Tuscarora GC), Jim Hirsh (NYSGA eClub - CNY), Luke Hobika (Drumlins GC), Brett Cunningham (Beaver Meadows GC), Brian Evans (Beaver Meadows GC), Joe Petrin, Jr. (Lakeshore Yacht & CC), Andrew Brunozzi (Lakeshore Yacht & CC), Doug DeCarlo (NYSGA eClub - CNY), Damian George (Timber Banks GC), Adam Butch (Beaver Meadows GC) and Jackson Saroney (Drumlins GC).


The CNYPGA was represented by Mel Baum (Wa-Noa GC), Michael Deuel (En-Joie GC), Mike Discenza (SUNY Cortland), Matt Jaynes (Corning CC), Eric Manning (Elm Tree GC), Rob Phelps (Vesper Hills GC), Jeff Reader (Cazenovia GC), Alan Savage (Turning Stone), Nick Serafino (Timber Banks GC), Joe Tesori (CNYPGA), Mark Tucker (Cazenovia CC) and Trey Walewski (Meadowbrook GC).


The Mitchell Cup is named in honor of William Mitchell, the former head pro at Onondaga Golf & Country Club. The CNYPGA leads the all time series 31-17-1.
