Father-Son Duo Take Home the 2026 Two-Man Scramble Championship

Tim Johnson, of Pompey Club, and his son Davis Johnson, of Highland Park Golf Club, claimed the 2026 SDGA Two-Man Scramble title on Sunday at Pompey Club. Their final score of 12-under par (60) gave them a two-stroke margin of victory.

The Johnsons were the only team in the field to eagle a par 4, which they did twice. The first one came on the second hole, a 321-yard par 4. Tim and Davis went on to birdie the fourth and seventh holes but bogeyed hole eight to finish the front-nine at three-under.

The winning duo caught fire on the back nine. It started with another eagle on a par-4 10th hole. They went on to birdie 11 and eagle the par-5 12th. The Johnsons then birdied holes 14-16.  Their final birdie on the 18th sealed the deal as they shot 28 on the in.

Ryan Fecco (Beaver Meadows Golf Club), and Brendan Villnave (USGA/NYSGA GC) finished runner-up at 10-under. Pompey Club pair John Clare and John Barlow came in third place at 9-under with two eagles on par 5s. Drumlins Golf Club duo Zach Anderson and Alec Mosher finished fourth at 8-under. Rounding out the top five, Michael McIntosh (Bellevue CC) and Thomas McIntosh (Cazenovia CC) shot seven-under.

In the Senior division, Steve Berdan, of McConnellsville Country Club, and Greg Perry, of Onondaga Golf & Country Club, shot 10-under to win their division by five strokes. The pair stayed consistent all day with five birdies on the front-nine and five on the back. Joe Hobika (Yahnundasis GC) and Bruce Levinson (Onondaga CC) finished in second at five-under.

In the Super Senior field, Donald Christian, of Foxfire Golf Course, and Randy Young, of Bellevue Country Club, won in a playoff after finishing their round at seven-under. They birdied three of the last four holes to come from behind and force the playoff. The win marks their second consecutive title as last year the duo won the entire event (played without age divisions). 

Pompey Clubs members Jerry Aloi and Dan Massa finished in second place after also shooting seven-under Robert Fisher (Beaver Meadows Golf Club), and Robert Kawa (NYSGA eClub - Central NY) tied for third place with Dan Gaulin and Steve Fuller (both of Cazenovia CC).
