Major Changes to SDGA Junior Championship

The Syracuse District Golf Association has announced major changes to their two junior golf championships, which are open to local boys and girls 18 years old and younger. The following two junior events will now be FREE:





To support Syracuse’s junior tournament golfers, the SDGA is implementing the following changes:


  • FREE TO ENTER: Juniors can play without paying an entry fee!

  • FREE TEE GIFTS: Juniors will receive exclusive tee gifts.

  • FREE PRIZES: There will be a substantial prize purse for all divisions

  • NATIONAL RANKINGS: The SDGA Junior Classic is back to a 54-hole competition, ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard and the USGA’s World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). The SDGA Junior Classic is also WAGR ranked.EXEMPTIONS: The top-3 players in SDGA Junior Classic (Boys’ 18U division) will earn an exemption to compete in the 2025 NYS Boys’ Junior Amateur Championship.

  • WILLIAMSON CUP: The top-3 boys on the points list, who have also competed in at least one SDGA junior championship, will earn an invitation to compete in the Williamson Cup. This historic team competition will be played in 2024 at the Rehoboth Beach CC. All expenses are paid by the SDGA.

  • DIVISIONS: There are three divisions, Boys (18U and 14U) and Girls (18U). If more juniors apply than spots available, the fields will be determined by their USGA Handicap Index.

  • FREE GHIN: All juniors must have a USGA Handicap Index, which are free for juniors; click here to join the NYSGA eClub - CNY.
