Low scores have been hard to come by this week at Timber Banks Golf Club. Just four players have logged rounds under par across 36 holes. Two of those rounds are credited to Nick Bove (NYSGA e-Club - Central New York), who logged a 71 on Saturday after posting a 68 on day one.

Bove, who recently finished in sixth place at the AIM Championship earlier this month, is looking to secure his first Gerry Ashe Memorial crown as he takes a six-stroke lead into the final round. The Le Moyne College product has finished in the top ten in each of the past four years.
Starting the day at four-under, Bove knocked in three pars to begin Saturday’s round, then a bogey on four. He gained the stroke back on seven with a birdie, before rolling in another on 11. He dropped back down to even-par on the day with a bogey on 13, before responding with a birdie on 14.
After landing in the fairway on the par-4 15th, Bove’s second shot went into a greenside bunker. He was unable to get up and down, settling for a bogey, before sticking his tee shot close on the par-3 16th and converting his birdie to get back to one-under on the day.
Bove ran into seemingly more trouble on the 17th as his tee shot leaked right, into a collection of trees. He was able to maneuver out and lay up in front of the green on his second shot, before getting up and down to save par.
His approach shot on the 18th landed on the green, where Bove two-putted for par to cap his second consecutive round in the red for the championship. At five-under, Bove has a handful of chasers at one-over. Mitchell Archer (Drumlins Golf Club) shot a second-round 74 after breaking par (71) the first day.
Ben Gaulin (Cazenovia Country Club) and Doug DeCarlo (Drumlins Golf Club), who won the SDGA Best-Ball Championship earlier this season, join Archer in a tie for second place. Anthony Maglisco (Pompey Club) and Spencer Baum (Wa-Noa Golf Club) sit in third place at three-over.
