It wasn’t easy for Oswego, however, as both of Tuscarora’s teams were well in contention throughout the 18-hole competition at Vesper Hills GC. Oswego, represented by Thomas Roman, Joe Babcock, Chris Carpenter and Ken Cherchio, shot a spectacular nine-under 135 across their two teams of two-person best ball.

Babcock and Carpenter contributed seven red numbers to their team’s effort, followed by five birdies from Cherchio and Roman. They were tied with Tuscarora’s John Harrington, Tim McDermott, Michael Naton and David Smith at nine-under after regulation.

Harrington and McDermott combined for seven birdies, while Naton and Smith rolled in four, as well as an eagle from Smith on the par-5 second hole.

The tiebreaker was settled with the team with the low best-ball round, which belonged to Babcock and Carpenter, who shot seven-under on the day.

Tuscarora’s second team, consisting of Christopher Smithers, Thomas Fletcher, John Sierotnik and Ben Kilmartin, finished in third-place at eight-under. Bellevue CC took home fourth place at six-under, while Rogues Roost GC, Beaver Meadows GC and Highland Park GC each tied for fifth at four-under.
