Petrin, Jr. Dominant in 1st Gerry Ashe Victory

MARCELLUS, N.Y. - Joe Petrin, Jr. of Lakeshore Yacht & Country Club emerged victorious at the 2023 SDGA Gerry Ashe Memorial held at Tuscarora Golf Club this weekend. Petrin stayed in top form for the entire tournament, posting a three day total of 13-under-par, (200) to win by seven strokes.

This is Petrin's first victory at the Ashe, the premier SDGA stroke play event. Having won the District Match Play in 2022, Petrin now has two of the three Syracuse Amateur Major titles, missing only an AIM Championship. Joe follows in his brother Jonny's footsteps, who won the event in 2019 at Yahnundasis GC.

Shawn Colella (Bellevue CC) posted a six-under-par, 207

Kevin Vandenberg (Beaver Meadows GC) posted a five-under-par, 208

Nick Bove (Pompey Club) posted a four-under-par, 209

Brad Monroe (Onondaga G&CC) and Jack Angelucci (Yahnundasis GC) both finished at three-under-par, 210
