Weinerth and Franchina Winners at SDGA Scramble
OWASCO, N.Y. -- Twenty-one teams were treated to exceptional playing conditions at Owasco Country Club for the 2023 SDGA Two-Person Scramble.
Two teams posted extraordinary scores of 13-under, 58. The team of Bill Virkler and Jim Hirsh recorded nine birdies and two eagles over the beautiful Owasco layout, while the team of Jack Weinerth and Steve Franchina toured the course with 13 birdies.
A key birdie on the 18th hole secured Franchina and Weinerth the victory, as the USGA method of matching cards came down to the final hole to determine the champions.
The next best scores were 63 recorded by three separate teams.
