Maxwell Dec Wins SDGA District Match Play Championship

Baldwinsville, NY - The 2019 SDGA District Match Play Championship, hosted by Timber Banks GC & Marina, produced a new champion. Maxwell Dec beat Christopher Quilty 2 & 1 in a tightly contested match. Chris was able to square up the match multiple times, but he never had the lead. Maxwell had a bye in the first round of match play after securing the 6th seed, with a score of 2 under par 70, in Thursday's qualifying round. He beat Ben Donohue 6 & 5 in the Second Round of match play. He then beat the 22nd seed, Shamus Hickey, 3 & 1 to move onto the quarterfinals. He was able to beat the 14th seed, Steve Cacchio, 6 & 5 to advance to the semifinals. Max was able to beat the 2nd seed, Jack Angelucci 3 & 2 to set up Sunday's championship match with Christopher Quilty.
Jack Angelucci was the medalist of Thursday's qualifying round with a score of 4 under par, 68. After securing the 2nd overall seed, defending champion Dylan Plis automatically received the 1st seed, Jack was able to advance to the semifinals.
During Friday's match Nick Bove had a hole in one on the 13th hole using a eight iron from 159 yards. This is Nick's second hole in one, both coming during this year.
