Maglisco, a former LeMoyne golfer and Pompey Club member, got off to an up-and-down start during the first round on Friday. He recorded two birdies, but also two bogeys and a double bogey on the front nine.

He was able to find some consistency on the back nine. After a birdie then a bogey, Maglisco birdied the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th holes to post an opening round of 69. Maglisco’s score of two-under was good enough for a four-way share of second place. Joe Petrin Jr. held the lead after day one with five birdies and a score of 68.

In the second round, Maglisco recorded four birdies in the first ten holes without a bogey. He went on to par the final eight holes to wrap up a round of 67, giving him the tournament lead at six-under. With Petrin Jr. faltering in round 2, and with the other contenders unable to build off the momentum from round 1, Maglisco entered the final round leading comfortably.

In the final round, on Sunday, the leader got off to a rocky start. After bogeys on 3 and 5, Maglisco double-bogeyed the 6th hole and bogeyed 8 and 9 to close the front nine. He finished his first 45 holes at even par with nine holes remaining in the tournament.

In need of a reset, Maglisco crucially birdied the par-5 10th hole. He went on to, like in the second round, par each of his eight final holes into the clubhouse to finish the round at 76 and the tournament at one-under. On the final hole, he made a testy eight-foot putt to clinch his first Gerry Ashe Memorial Championship.

Petrin Jr. (Bellevue CC) and Bob Davenport (Yahnundasis GC) tied for second place at even par. John Duthie (RTJGC at Cornell) and Mitchell Archer (Drumlins GC) finished at one-over, tied for fourth.
